Using historical maps from 1860s to 1970s of newcastle upon tyne to study the idea change of urban planing in the city

Need one poster (1000 words) and one report(2000 words)

For poster, A1 or A0, either landscape or portrait (1000 words ±5%). You will apply theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during the module to produce a poster where patterns in the datasets will be visualised (through maps, plots and/or infographics) and interpreted. The poster will test your ability to use digital knowledge to investigate a real-world dataset relevant for your research.

Your lecturers will answer any questions you might have on this assignment. Below you can find some useful tips:

Microsoft Power Point is probably the easiest software to do your poster: choose ‘Blank Presentation’, find the ‘Customize’ section in the ‘Design’ tab and set the layout to 59.4 x 84.1 cm (for A1) or 84.1 x 118.9 cm (for A0)
If you are more familiar with other software for graphic design, feel free to use those, as long as the size of the output either A0 or A1.
Use a balanced combination of images and text. Be creative, while bearing in mind readers’ needs!
Export your poster in PDF format to upload it on Canvas.
Make sure you compress the images in your poster before exporting the PDF. In Power Point you can click on one image, go to the ‘Picture Format’ tab, click on the little icon that says ‘Compress Pictures’, untick ‘Apply only to this picture’ and click OK.

For report
Alongside the poster, you will also be required to submit a report (2000 words ±5%) describing and justifying the methodology you used for the data visualisation and analysis. This will save space in the poster, where you could focus on the research questions, the datasets, and the interpretation. The report should have a short introduction where you explain what your project was about, followed by a step-by-step description of every phase of your research: what methods you chose and why, what software you used, how the analysis was carried out, any technical issues you encountered and how you tackle them. Remember that the main aim of a report is to provide a detailed and technical explanation of the approach and tools used to produce an output (in your case, the poster!). More guidance will be provided by the lecturers during the module.

PS. If my choice of topic is not easy to go with, feel free to change the topic, as long as it is in the United Kingdom
