Imagine your supervisor is excited about your volunteering program and is hoping that they will soon be able to demonstrate its effectiveness to executive leadership.

This week you will continue to work with the volunteering program you have imagined and begun thinking through.

This week, you will imagine your supervisor is excited about your volunteering program and is hoping that they will soon be able to demonstrate its effectiveness to executive leadership. They tell you that you will need to craft a clear procedure for evaluating your volunteer opportunity’s value (to staff, to the larger organization, and to the surrounding community) before they give your initiative their final approval. By doing so, executive leadership will support your volunteering initiative, and others within your organization might be able to replicate your process for future volunteering efforts.

WEEKLY RESOURCES
BY DAY 3

Post at least 2 paragraphs responding to the following.
Draft a brief introduction and how-to guide for assessing the value of your volunteer opportunity for staff, the organization, and for the surrounding community. This guide should be crafted with other potential volunteer leaders in mind.
Your how-to guide should include distinct steps that will allow you (or future volunteer leaders) to show the program’s value. For example, you might include collecting feedback from volunteers or other stakeholders (e.g., create survey to collect volunteer feedback; ask for narrative feedback from nonprofit organizers regarding the value of your initiative), or collecting metrics (e.g., detail the number of homeless veterans served or number of new AC units installed). Your job is to provide a set of steps that will provide a clear evaluation of your volunteer initiative.
