In conducting the psychological evaluation for this position, the NYPD considers a number of psychological factors including, but not limited to, the manner in which a candidate has handled and coped with difficult life situations which may also include employment, schooling, and personal and professional interactions with family, friends, employers, supervisors, coworkers, strangers, or others; the ability to make sound decisions; participation and behavior involving drug use or alcohol use and criminal activity; ability to control, and/or reactions to, volatile or confrontational situations.
Written Statement: You may submit a written statement asking that the NYPD reconsider its proposed disqualification. You should include with your statement additional information demonstrating your psychological suitability for the position of Police Officer.
