Discussion: Write Your Discussion Post
Using the responsive listening checklist in figure 4.2 of your Knackendoffel text, find a willing partner such as a classmate, colleague, family member, or friend and have them share a problem situation, or something that is bothersome to them. Practice your responsive listening skills and then after the interaction, review the checklist together to reflect on what you did well and what areas need improvement. What did you find most difficult to do in responsive listening?
Reflect on this exercise and discuss strategies for effective communication and building rapport to set up the consultative relationship for success from the onset.
